MEET THE DIETITIAN

Kristen Schweers, MS, RD, CD
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona and my Master's in Nutrition Science at Arizona State University.

My 15 years of experience as a dietitian has included:
-Eating disorder treatment for all ages and at every level of care
-Long term care and skilled nursing facilities
-Menu development and nutrient analysis for private clients
-Teaching collegiate level courses on food science
-Corporate wellness lectures
-Restaurant management
-Meals on Wheels and congregate meal programs

My passion for nutrition counseling comes from a genuine love of food and people. One of my greatest pleasures is helping people develop their relationship with food and experience nutrition in an entirely different light. While engaging clients in nutrition counseling, I use a Health At Every Size and Eating Competence approach. This means no diets, inclusive body and weight positive language, and exploring ways to help my clients identify their own intuition around eating. I have been trained in the fundamentals of DBT, CBT, ACT, FBT, and IFS forms of therapy and actively apply traits of these in my sessions. I have a passion for helping concerned parents learn to feed their children in a balanced, weight-neutral, and age-appropriate way. When doing this, I use the research and treatment modality of renowned dietitian and therapist, Ellyn Satter.

I live my life in a cis, hetero, "neurotypical", straight sized, white body with more privilege than a lot of others in this world. I am aware of these privileges and work to counter intrinsic biases that show up in my actions and words. If you are seeking support for yourself or someone else with any form of marginalized identity, know that I will work to meet your needs as best I can. I am also happy to tap into my network of other providers to obtain referrals that might increase your comfort in your care team.

When not working, I spend most of my time with my family (husband, 3 kids, maltipoo), cooking, reading, and doing the NYT word puzzles.
