FAQS

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN)is a nutrition professional who has completed a certain number of schooling requirements, finished a supervised internship, and sat for a credentialing exam. RD/RDN's are considered the leading experts in the field of nutrition and abide by both a code of ethics and standard of care. A nutritionist without the RD credential is not obligated to adhere to the same educational and professional standards.

ARE THERE ANY REDUCED RATES AVAILABLE?

For those who meet criteria, a sliding scale fee structure is available. Please ask Kristen if interested in this avenue.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DOES REAL NUTRITION TAKE?

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER NUTRITION SERVICES?

Currently, Kristen is an in-network provider with Regence Blue Shield, Premera Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates, First Choice Health Network, and certain Kaiser Permanente plans. For all other insurance companies, Kristen can provide the necessary information to file an out of network claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. It is the responsibility of each client to know their benefits and if nutrition services will be covered. Clients are financially responsible for any uncovered services by insurance providers. For those wishing to use insurance benefits, you might need a relevant diagnosis made by a medical doctor that indicates the need for nutrition counseling. In your phone consult, Kristen can walk you through steps to obtain this referral.
